The University of Azuay joins the Corpus Christi tradition

On June 23, the University of Azuay participated in the Mass held for the Corpus Christi festivities and the procession corresponding to the fifth day of the seven-day celebration, a celebration steeped in devotion and tradition.

Corpus Christi is one of the most traditional religious celebrations in Cuenca. This Catholic holiday is commemorated every year on the second Thursday after Pentecost and features the Eucharist as its central event.

On this occasion, the University of Azuay was the host of the fourth day of the seven-day event, leading the participation of the city's universities.

At the conclusion of the religious ceremony, the attendees joined in the traditional procession, which ended with the burning of a colorful castle and fireworks. This colorful and symbolic moment illuminated the streets of the Historic Center and the sky of Cuenca, bringing to a close a day marked by spirituality and popular joy.
