The University of Azuay acquires new research equipment for MACCARD
The Master in Climate Change, Agriculture and Sustainable Rural Development, MACCARD, is an Erasmus + program funded by the European Union that will be taught at the University of Azuay alongside international universities:
• University of Sassari (Italy)
• University of Granada (Spain)
• Ikiam Amazon Regional University (Ecuador)
• National University of Jaén (Peru)
• National University Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza de Amazonas (Peru).
MACCARD at the UDA will offer special emphasis on the following lines of training: (1) Nexus: Water - Food - Energy and Climate Change, (2) Biodiversity and ecosystem services and (3) Use of geographic and satellite information to monitor the Goals of Sustainable Development.
In this sense, the University of Azuay has acquired equipment that will help teachers to put theoretical knowledge into practice during their classes and research thesis.
Portable and field equipment are located at the UDA and at the Chalacay site, in the Mazar reservoir, which are monitored in conjunction with CELEC Sur. The equipment purchased is: a weather station, a kit to extract soil samples, a lysimeter to measure evaporation, a kit to monitor water quality, an interactive whiteboard and a printer.
